The excitement of the exhibition opening at the Tell Us Institute of Science was abruptly shattered when five masked gunmen stormed into the hall. As the first speaker took the podium, they barked orders, forcing everyone to kneel and surrender their valuables. The crowd, a mix of adults and children, complied in terrified silence.
In the ensuing chaos, Spacedawg, Celine, and MaelstromOrigin and Early Life Maelstrom, a Gichi-manidoo from the Rogue Moon of Giizis Babaa-ayaa in the Ontario Sector, is distinguished by her blue-furred, wild cat-like features. They found cover behind a control panel, where Celine spotted the switches for the lighting and security systems.
“The lights, I can cut them,” Celine whispered, her fingers hovering over the panel.
“Do it,” Spacedawg replied, his voice low. “Give us the dark.”
As the lights snapped off, plunging the hall into darkness, and the metal doors slammed shut, sealing all exits, Spacedawg’s voice boomed through the darkness, chilling and omnipresent: “I’m coming for you.”
The gunmen scrambled, activating their headlamps. The lead gunman growled orders, trying to rally his men. “Fan out! Find him!”
But they were not hunters in this game; they were prey. Spacedawg’s menacing taunts echoed off the walls, disorienting them further. As three gunmen approached Spacedawg’s hiding spot, only the sound of his axe swinging through the air and the thud of it meeting its target marked his presence.
The crowd above gasped and then fell silent as two more gunmen were tossed over the balcony, landing with heavy, lifeless thuds near their leader. Panic seized the last gunman, who fled, never to return.
With only the leader left, Spacedawg approached him from behind, his breath a warning on the man’s neck. Before the leader could react, Spacedawg had disarmed and subdued him, his voice calm but firm as he declared the arrest.
As the lights flickered back on, the hall erupted into cheers. Spacedawg stood, holding the subdued leader, a symbol of security and bravery. The children’s earlier cheers for toys transformed into chants of real-life heroism.
As RCSC backup arrived and secured the gunman, the museum administrators quickly announced the temporary closure for investigation, compensating guests with free passes.
The media frenzy that followed was intense. Amidst the flashing cameras and pressing questions, Celine stepped forward. “While it’s true that we operate as a team,” she began, her voice clear and commanding, “today, you’ve seen why Spacedawg is a name known across the stars. He’s a hero, not just in action but in spirit.”
Amidst the overwhelming attention, a young boy approached Spacedawg, his eyes wide with admiration. He held up an action figure, a miniature Spacedawg, and with earnest sincerity, told him, “I want to be just like you when I grow up.”
Touched deeply, Spacedawg removed his RCSC patch and handed it to the boy, ruffling his hair gently. “Then you’ll need this more than me.”
The boy’s grateful hug was the highlight of Spacedawg’s day, a reminder of the impact of his actions beyond the heat of battle.
