The laboratory buzzed with frenzied activity as Mrs. Price found herself strapped to a gurney amidst the chaos. Wires snaked around machines, and scientists hurried about, their urgency palpable. Suddenly, a portal crackled to life, casting an eerie glow across the room.

Mrs. Price struggled against her restraints, her voice pleading.

“Let me go!”

But her cries were drowned out by the crackling energy of the portal. With a surge of power, she was drawn into its swirling vortex, disappearing in a flash of blinding light.

**End of Flashback**

**Scene 2: Arrival in the Early 20th Century**

*Location: Near Georgetown University*

Dr. Jean-Philip DésemparésEarly Life and Education Born and raised in Quebec, Canada, Dr. Jean-Philip Désemparés exhibited an early fascination with the mysteries of the universe. His journey into the realm of theoretical physics was fueled by an insatiable curiosity and a passion for discovery. At the University of Montreal, Désemparés's dedication and intellect quickly earned him recognition, culminating in his graduation with... More emerged from the time portal, disoriented and weakened by the sudden transition through time. Clutching his wounded side, he staggered through the unfamiliar streets of Georgetown.

A stranger approached, concerned by his state.

“Are you alright, sir? You look like you’ve been through hell.”

Désemparés managed a weak nod, grateful for the stranger’s concern.

“I’ll manage. But I need to find a way to blend in, to start anew,” he replied.

The stranger, introducing himself as The Artist, offered his help.

“I might be able to assist. What did you do for a living?” The Artist asked.

Désemparés hesitated but decided to trust the stranger with the truth.

“I was a university professor. Physics, to be precise.”

Intrigued, The Artist promised to forge documents to help Désemparés start fresh in this new era.

“Consider it done. But make it discreet. I can’t afford any unwanted attention,” Désemparés requested, handing over the payment.

With a nod of understanding, The Artist accepted the task, disappearing into the bustling streets, leaving Désemparés to contemplate his next steps in this strange new world.
