Spacedawg and Princess Dagbjort lay together in his private quarters aboard the Mandoleer’s Folly, the soft glow of the ship’s lights casting gentle shadows on the walls. The room was filled with a sense of closeness and contentment after sharing a joint, their intimacy creating a space for deeper conversation.
Dagbjort took a deep breath and turned to Spacedawg, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. “How much do you know about the Canis, Spacedawg?”
Spacedawg smiled, taking her hand in his. “I’ve met a few in my time, but I can’t say I know everything. I do know one who stands out—Captain Ulrich Knudsen of the RCSC Archer. He’s a real hero, always putting others before himself.”
Dagbjort tilted her head, a playful smile tugging at her lips. “You’re always so modest, Spacedawg. Why won’t you take praise for the things you’ve done?”
Spacedawg shrugged, his expression humble. “I just do what needs to be done. It’s not about the recognition.”
Dagbjort’s eyes softened as she gazed at him. “I’ve heard stories about you, you know. Stories of your bravery and adventures. You’ve done remarkable things.”
Spacedawg’s modesty only deepened. “I’ve had a lot of help along the way. My crew, my allies… I couldn’t have done it alone.”
Dagbjort shifted closer, her tone becoming more serious. “I’ve heard that you weren’t born, but created. The only Canis who have been created in a similar way were done so by combining a dog and a human, exposed to Udath radiation. The Asynya are the only ones known to do that.”
Spacedawg raised an eyebrow. “Are you suggesting the Asynya had a hand in making me?”
Dagbjort laughed softly. “I love discussing hypotheticals and theories. It’s fascinating to think that perhaps the Asynya created you with a mission of justice.”
Spacedawg looked thoughtful. “It would explain a lot, wouldn’t it?”
Dagbjort nodded, then glanced at the axe mounted on the wall. “Fyrs-Ond… it looks like an ancient Canis design. Such weapons were only held by kings.”
Spacedawg smiled. “It was given to me.”
Dagbjort laughed, leaning in to kiss him. “These weapons aren’t just given, Spacedawg. They choose their wielder, someone with a noble heart. If Fyrs-Ond chose you, then you must be more than just an officer. You must be a king.”
Spacedawg shook his head, chuckling. “I came from a middle-class family. Nothing royal about me.”
Dagbjort caressed his face gently. “Spacedawg PaulyBirth Name: PaulyCurrent Alias: Spacedawg PaulySpecies: Human-Canine HybridDate of Birth: February 22, 1973Place of Birth: Washington, D.C., United States, Earth, Sol SystemOccupations: Former Chef, Brewer, Distiller, Garden Worker, Apprentice Cobbler; Current First Mate on the Mandoleer's Folly, Lieutenant in the Royal Canadian Space Cavalry (RCSC) Overview Spacedawg Pauly is a unique entity whose life story spans both Earth and the... is a different person than the human with his bloodhound. Dagbjort’s eyes lit up. “I already accepted. It will be held on Vancouver Prime. We should probably pick a date.”
Spacedawg grinned. “I’ve heard the Capilano Forest Moon is nice this time of year. And I know the owner of a great restaurant there—Henry Weedmonger’s Suds, Buds, Bar and Grill.”
Dagbjort giggled. “That sounds perfect. How about we aim for April?”
Spacedawg nodded. “April it is. We’ll need to think about who to invite.”
Dagbjort’s expression turned thoughtful. “The Royal Family will more than likely be coming. After all, it’s a royal wedding.”
Spacedawg took a deep breath, feeling the weight and joy of their upcoming nuptials. “Then we better make it a celebration to remember.”
They shared a tender kiss, their hearts and minds united in the excitement and anticipation of their future together. The bonds they were forging would not only strengthen their love but also the ties between the Canis Empire and the Canadian Expanse.
