The Mandoleer’s Folly and its escorts glided into orbit around the partially terraformed moon, a desolate yet strategically significant location. The crew prepared for the impending confrontation, their faces etched with determination.
As the landing party descended onto the moon’s surface, Njord’s eyes widened in recognition. “That’s Prince Jork,” he muttered to Spacedawg. “A shrew of a man and a prince who can’t take no for an answer.”
Spacedawg frowned. “What’s his game?”
Before Njord could respond, Prince Jork stepped forward, a smug grin plastered on his face. “Captain Spacedawg, welcome. I’m invoking an ancient rule that allows me to appoint a proxy champion for our duel.”
“That’s not fair,” Spacedawg retorted. “If you care so much about this, you should fight yourself.”
Jork’s grin widened. “I never agreed to fairness, Captain. Meet my champion.” He gestured, and a towering, ogre-like man stepped forward, muscles rippling beneath his armor.
Spacedawg sighed. “Fine. I’ll fight your proxy, but if I win, you fight me next.”
Jork nodded, his eyes gleaming with malice. “Agreed.”
The makeshift arena fell silent as Spacedawg faced the ogre. With a swift, powerful throw, he hurled his axe, Fyrs-Ond, through the air. The blade cut cleanly, decapitating the giant. The axe then returned to Spacedawg’s hand as if it had a will of its own.
Spacedawg glared at Jork. “You’re under arrest for conspiracy to murder an officer of the RCSC, kidnapping, and numerous other crimes. You will face justice.”
Jork’s smug demeanor faltered. “I have diplomatic immunity!”
“I’ve never seen any law granting so-called diplomats immunity,” Spacedawg replied coldly. “You’re finished, Jork.”

She ran towards Spacedawg, but Jork broke free, grabbing her and putting a knife to her throat.
“That was your biggest mistake, Jork,” Spacedawg growled.
In a blur of motion, Dagbjort twisted free, delivering a series of strikes that left Jork crumpled on the ground with broken appendages and a bruised ego. “I’ll report this to the Imperial Magistrate,” she declared.
Dagbjort then turned to Spacedawg, her eyes softening. “You’re my hero,” she whispered before kissing him deeply.
Spacedawg, ever modest, smiled. “I couldn’t have done it without my crew and allies.”
Njord and his men approached, bowing low. “We are relieved you are safe, Princess,” Njord said.
Dagbjort nodded. “I will stay the night with my husband-to-be,” she announced. “Double the guard and do not disturb us, even if you hear wild animals. It’s our private time.”
As the Mandoleer’s Folly prepared for departure, the crew felt a profound sense of accomplishment. Spacedawg and Dagbjort finally had a moment of peace together, their bond stronger than ever.
