Abigail, J.J., and Renée stepped off their shuttle at the RCSC station on Dryden Prime. The tension in the air was thick, and they knew this visit was going to be tough.
“Stay alert,” Renée said, adjusting her badge. “We’re walking into a hornet’s nest.”
As they entered the station, hostility hit them immediately. The station captain, a burly man with a permanent scowl, blocked their way.
“What do you want?” he barked. “We’re busy here.”
Abigail stepped forward. “We’re here to investigate the recent leaks and corruption within this station.”
The captain’s eyes narrowed. “You have no authority here. Leave, or there will be consequences.”
Renée’s eyes flashed with anger. “Are you threatening us?”
The captain sneered. “Take it however you want, but get out.”
Before he could react, Renée moved with lightning speed, flipping the captain and cuffing him. “Never threaten the RCSC,” she hissed, showing her badge.
The station officers stared in shock, unsure how to react. Some looked ready to side with the captain, while others appeared confused and neutral.
Chaos erupted. Officers loyal to the captain drew their weapons, and a firefight broke out. J.J. and Renée took cover, returning fire with precision.
“Troopers, move in!” J.J. shouted into his communicator.
Within moments, J.J.’s troopers stormed the station, securing the area and arresting the captain and his supporters. The rest of the officers were disarmed and detained.
“You’ll be facing a court-martial,” Abigail said coldly to the captain. “Enjoy prison life. You’ll lose your pension, your assets will be frozen, and your property auctioned off.”
The captain’s face went pale with fear. Abigail’s scare tactics were working.
As they began heading back to the shuttle, the captain suddenly fell to his knees, clutching his head and groaning in pain. The same strange ooze seen on the records officer began seeping from his ears and nose.
“Medic!” Renée called out, but it was too late. The captain was pronounced dead on the scene.
To their horror, eight other officers also collapsed, succumbing to the same fate from explosive aneurysms. The station became a scene of chaos and tragedy.
Back aboard the shuttle, Renée sighed heavily. “Looks like we’re back to square one. But at least the criminal element seems to be cleaning itself up.”
J.J. nodded. “I want to know more about these implants. Maybe MaelstromOrigin and Early Life Maelstrom, a Gichi-manidoo from the Rogue Moon of Giizis Babaa-ayaa in the Ontario Sector, is distinguished by her blue-furred, wild cat-like features. A member of the humanoid species with a deep connection to nature, she embodies the physical and spiritual traits of her heritage. Maelstrom’s life took a significant turn when she relocated to the bustling... can help us find some answers.”
As they approached the Mandoleer’s Folly, the team was more determined than ever to uncover the truth and bring those responsible to justice.
