The command center of Elysium Station was a haunting sight. Dim emergency lights cast long, eerie shadows over decaying equipment, and the ghostly voice from the intercom lingered in the air like a whisper from the past.

These systems are ancient, but I should be able to get a fix on the source.”

The signal is coming from the lower levels, near the old research labs.”
Spacedawg nodded. “Good work. Renée, take point. Let’s find out who—or what—is down there.”
The team moved cautiously through the station’s dimly lit corridors, the walls seeming to close in around them. As they descended to the lower levels, the temperature dropped further, and the feeling of being watched intensified.
They reached the entrance to the research labs, a heavy door that creaked open with an echo that reverberated through the empty halls. Inside, the labs were a chaotic mess of overturned tables and broken equipment. The stale air carried a faint metallic scent.
“Spread out,” Renée ordered. “Look for anything that might give us a clue about what’s been going on here.”

She began to access the files, her brow furrowing as she read through the data. “Captain, you need to see this.”
Spacedawg walked over, his eyes narrowing as he read the screen. “Experimental energy manipulation… unauthorized tests… and these logs are recent.”
Renée looked over his shoulder. “This doesn’t make sense. Who would be running experiments here after all this time?”
Before Spacedawg could answer, the intercom crackled to life again. “You should have left when you had the chance. Now, it’s too late.”
J.J. spun around, his blaster aimed at the door. “Captain, we’ve got movement!”
A figure emerged from the shadows, a man with disheveled hair and wild eyes. He wore a tattered lab coat and clutched a makeshift weapon.
“Who are you?” Spacedawg demanded, stepping forward.
The man’s eyes flickered with madness. “I am Dr. Elias Voss, the last scientist of Elysium Station. And you have made a grave mistake coming here.”
Renée raised her blaster. “Stand down, Dr. Voss. We’re here to help.”
Voss laughed, a hollow sound. “Help? You cannot help. The station is cursed, haunted by the experiments we conducted. We tried to harness the energy of the anomaly, but it went wrong. Horribly wrong.”
Maelstrom’s eyes widened. “The anomaly… that’s what caused the station’s downfall?”
Voss nodded. “The energy we tapped into… it changed things, made the station itself a living nightmare. Now, it’s too late to stop it.”
Spacedawg took a step closer. “We need to shut it down, Dr. Voss. Tell us how.”
Voss hesitated, his eyes darting around the room. “The core. You must destroy the core. But be warned, it will not go quietly.”
Before they could ask more, the station shook violently, alarms blaring. The haunting voice from the intercom returned, filled with malice. “You will never leave.”
Spacedawg turned to his team. “We need to get to the core and shut this down. Now.”
Renée nodded, determination in her eyes. “Let’s move.”
As they made their way to the station’s core, the haunting presence grew stronger, the shadows seeming to twist and reach out for them. The final showdown with the station’s dark secret was about to begin.
