With the meeting adjourned, Ed returned to the bridge, followed closely by Spacedawg. Ed could see the longing in his old friend’s eyes. “Would you like to give the command to initiate the Fold Drive?”

Spacedawg smiled. “Now you can have a drink without worrying about your duties.”

Spacedawg signaled the android bartender. “Is the locker above the bar still there?”

After a few drinks and a joint, Spacedawg helped a slightly inebriated Njord to his quarters. “Good night,” he said softly, heading to his own room, the day’s events swirling in his mind.
