Malik’s expression turned somber. “Losing the original Mandoleer’s Folly was tough. It was more than just a ship; it was our home. Seeing it go down was like losing a part of ourselves. But it also reminded us of why we do what we do – to protect, to explore, and to honor those we’ve lost by continuing our mission.”

“What are some of the best memories you’ve had on the ship?” she asked.

A soft smile returned to Malik’s face. “There are so many. Celebrating a successful mission, the camaraderie during downtime, even just watching the stars from the observation deck. One of my favorite memories is the time we encountered a previously unknown nebula. The colors, the sheer beauty of it, was something I’ll never forget.”
